  12. WARNING!! As noted below, you cannot run ThingsToDo without the 
  13. file "VBRUN200.DLL" which you must download separately.  It 
  14. should be available in the library where you found "TTDW14.EXE".

  17. NEW FEATURES IN VERSION 1.4 
  18.  
  19. Based on the suggestions of registered users, the following 
  20. enhancements have been  included in Version 1.4 of ThingsToDo: 
  21.  
  22. 1.    More Customization: Version 1.4 will allow you to 
  23.     lock in your preferences for:
  24.  
  25.     a.    The View which will be displayed when you 
  26.     first start up ThingsToDo;
  27.     b.    The type face and type size which will be used 
  28.     for the following elements of a printed View: the 
  29.     ThingsToDo title, the View title, column headings, the 
  30.     item, and notes;
  31.     c.    The ability to select, on a view-by-view basis,
  32.      the order in which items will appear on the screen and 
  33.     on the printouts;
  34.     d.    The ability to detect and use the format for the entry 
  35.     and display of dates which you selected in the Windows 
  36.     Control Panel so that you can use "day/month/year" 
  37.     format, if desired;
  38.  
  39. 2.    The ability to delete an item, without marking it as 
  40.     completed.  This allows you to get rid of some items while 
  41.     keeping an accessible archive of others.
  42.  
  43. 3.    The ability, at the time of printing, to suppress all notes;
  44.  
  45. 4.    The ability to indent lines in your notes;
  46.  
  47. 5.     The removal of the 2,000 item limit;
  48.  
  49. 6.    The ability to bring up the DatePicker by double-
  50.     clicking on the date field when entering or editing an item;
  51.  
  52. 7.    The ability to more quickly enter items of the same 
  53.     type by offering the type of the most recently entered item as 
  54.     the default type for the item you are about to enter;
  55.  
  56. 8.    The ability to access all views by using Hot Keys;
  57.  
  58. 9.    The addition of three more customizable task types; and
  59.  
  60. 11.    The ability to print a particular item and its 
  61.     associated note from the item data entry window.

  65. INSTALLATION
  66.  
  67. Once you have downloaded TTDW14.EXE and completed the self-extraction, 
  68. it is very easy to get ThingsToDo up and running.   Just follow
  69. these steps:
  70.  
  71. 1.      Use File Manager to find the  "Setup.Exe" file which was created 
  72.     when you triggered the self-extraction.  Double-click on the 
  73.     filename and it will create a "\Windows\Things" subdirectory
  74.     and copy to it all of the needed ThingsToDo files except 
  75.     "VBRUN200.DLL".  (You may, of course, start the Setup routine 
  76.     by using the Program Manager's Run option.  Remember to 
  77.     include the path of the directory where the extracted files 
  78.     were placed.)

  81. 2.      IMPORTANT: You must also place in this directory the file 
  82.         "VBRUN200.DLL" which must be downloaded separately
  83.         from the on-line library.

  86. 3.      You may then start ThingsToDo in any of the customary
  87.         ways: 
  88.      double-click the "Things.Exe" filename on the File Manager,
  89.      place the command "C:\Windows\Things\Things.exe" on the
  90.               "Load" or "Run" lines of your WIN.INI file,
  91.          use the "FILE/RUN" option of Program Manager,  or 
  92.      find the new icon on your desktop and double-click it.

  94. 4.      For further instructions, print out and review the 
  95.       "Things.Wri" file using Write.

  99. REGISTRATION
  100.  
  101. ThingsToDo is a "shareware program" and is provided to you for 
  102. evaluation at no charge.  Feel free to share it with your friends,
  103. but please do not give it away altered or as part of another system.
  104. The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal 
  105. computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet 
  106. to provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new 
  107. products.  If you find this program useful and find that you are 
  108. using ThingsToDo and continue to use ThingsToDo after a reasonable
  109. trial period, you must make a registration payment of  $35.00 to 
  110. The Manager, Inc.  You are encouraged to pass a copy of  ThingsToDo 
  111. along to your friends for evaluation.

  114. of our support policies are contained in the manual.

  116. When you register, I will send you a printed, illustrated, indexed 
  117. manual as well as a copy of ThingsToDo which does not display 
  118. the annoying registration notice at startup.  I will also answer 
  119. your questions, keep you informed about updates, and take your 
  120. comments into account as we plan new updates. I welcome
